Program Learning Objectives (PLOs) are the overarching core values and student responsibilities that reflect San José State University, and the national accreditation standards established by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
PLOs for Journalism, BS and Public Relations, BS
- Demonstrate knowledge of the diversity of groups in a global society in relationship to communications.
- Demonstrate the ability to think critically, creatively, and independently.
- Write correctly and clearly in forms and styles appropriate for the communication professions, audiences, and purposes they serve.
- Demonstrate the ability to use tools and technologies appropriate for the communications profession in which they work.
PLOs for Advertising, BS
- Apply knowledge of global perspectives and audience diversity in relation to creative communication strategies.
- Demonstrate the ability to think critically, creatively and independently.
- Communicate correctly and clearly through media and formats for the audiences, and purposes they serve.
- Demonstrate discipline-based ideas verbally and visually, using appropriate methods, tools and technologies.
- Engage with global issues related to sustainability, socio economic and cultural contexts for decision-making.
